Project Overview
Copy me is a twin sample testing processes to emboss bacterial cellulose using copper cut script. I additionally made two walnut frames that nest inside each other, you can rearrange the frames, stack them or separate them for display. This project explored mimicry and the cyclical nature of call and response.
Process
I did various experimentations based on the copper “copy me” drying and growing with the pellicle. My most successes were drying the pellicle with copper both under and over the pellicle.
The best results came from drying the pellicle on a piece of unfinished wood (the pellicle could be pressed dry or placed wet onto this wood) with the copper script placed on top. A medium to small sized pellicle was best for this drying process. The thickest pellicle look too long to dry on the wood and began to mold.
