There are a series of courses taught at MICA in the field of biofabrication. Courses build in complexity from the 200 level to the 400 as students gain technical understanding and expand their scope of possibilities as artists and designers. Each class is also unique in it models of learning.
This 200-level course introduces student to the field of Biofabrication through hands-on lab work and collaborations with living organisms to make artwork.
Students in this 300-level course begin to think bigger and create projects that are grounded in current science that speculate what is possible in the next 5-15 years.
In this unique 400-level opportunity, students work collaboratively with the professor and partnering outside scientists to pursue a single research project with real-world impact.
